An athletic fit is ideal for muscular lower builds. The cut provides extra room in the thigh, & butt while maintaining a handsome silhouette by providing a moderate taper below the knee. This fit accentuates your physique.
Other brands try to achieve the athletic fit by adding stretch to the fabric. The jeans still end up being tight in the wrong places with this approach. Not to mention, the stretch material takes away tensile strength from the denim, making them more prone to rip. Stretch fabrics also ruins the rugged appeal of denim jeans by turning corners into curves.
AW is one of the few brands that uses 100% cotton Japanese selvedge fabrics to achieve an athletic fit. They contour to your body while maintaining their athletic cut to make you look more athletic. Shop our athletic fit jeans here.
Selvedge weave was the original method Levi Strauss used to create his famous blue jeans. His intention was to create a durable, workwear fabric. It is known for its heavyweight feel & distinct, colored, tightly woven edge, which prevents the fabric from unraveling or fraying. Selvedge denim can only be created on a traditional shuttle loom in small batches. However, when these looms are paired with the experienced artisans of Japan's renowned fabric mills, incredible variation in the fabric's characteristics (ie. color, texture, weight etc.)are possible.
